It served its purpose, and that was all.Īs for the setting- I guess it did that too? Except, barely. There’s nothing outstanding or impressive with it, yet nothing that bothered me. You can check out more from author Kiera Cass on her website HERE.įollow Lisa on her bookstagram for more book reviews HERE.The writing in this book is… fine. Also make sure to add it to your To Reads list on Goodreads and leave feedback for the author when you are finished. Pick up your copy of The Betrothed by Kiera Cass on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and check your local bookstore. I am going to keep my hopes up that Cass brings it all together in The Betrothed , so that I can fall in love with these characters the way I did with those in The Selection. I just couldn’t get invested in the story, and I hope that the follow up novels will grab my attention better than this one. Should I root for Delia Grace her “best friend” or should I be rooting for King Jameson her “betrothed”? Why introduce and spend so much time on a family that is pretty much wiped out by the book’s end. There were so many different relationships surrounding Hollis, that I wasn’t really sure who I should be rooting for. There was just something about the characters in The Betrothed that just didn’t connect for me, and that makes me just a bit sad.

While some may seem archaic, others are charming. It is clear to see that Kiera Cass loves to write about the different types of Royalty that are out there, along with all of the different customs and traditions.

If not for my love of that series, I don’t know that I would have actually finished this one.

I had really high hopes for this one, as I absolutely LOVED The Selection Series. And when she meets a commoner with the mysterious power to see right into her heart, she finds that the future she really wants is one that she never thought to imagine. Capturing his heart is a dream come true.īut Hollis soon realizes that falling in love with a king and being crowned queen may not be the happily ever after she thought it would be. After all, she’s grown up at Keresken Castle, vying for the king’s attention alongside other daughters of the nobility. When King Jameson declares his love for Lady Hollis Brite, Hollis is shocked-and thrilled.
